ShipStation allows you to send your orders to Amazon FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) who then picks, packs, and ships those orders, while ShipStation then updates the shipping information back to the respective selling channels. If you don't have an Amazon FBA account yet, feel free to learn more about Amazon FBA here.
NOTE: ShipStation does not currently support the Amazon.com.au version of Fulfillment by Amazon. We support Fulfillment by Amazon for Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.ca.
Before sending orders to fulfillment, you must first add FBA as a Fulfillment Provider, and ensure the SKUs associated with your products match the SKUs listed in your Amazon Seller Central account. If you have done both of these, skip ahead to the Process an FBA Order section.
Add FBA as a Fulfillment Provider
Go to the Account Settings (the wrench icon in the top right).
Next, select Shipping and then Carriers & Fulfillment from the sidebar on the left.
Click Add a Provider Account and follow the process for adding Fulfillment by Amazon.
NOTE: At this time, you may only add one FBA account per country to a single ShipStation account's Carriers & Fulfillment settings. For example, you can add FBA (US), FBA UK, and FBA CA to a single ShipStation account, but you cannot add two FBA (US) accounts to a single ShipStation account.
Add Fulfillment SKUs to Products
If the SKUs for your products in ShipStation match the SKUs you have for the products in Amazon Seller Central, then you are all set. However, if they do not, you must first enter Amazon's MSKU into the Fulfillment SKU field in each product's details.
If you have many product records, you can update them all at once using a CSV import. Follow the instructions in this article to upload/update your product records with this method.
Process an FBA Order
To process an Amazon FBA order, select the order you'd like to fulfill.
In the Shipping section, select the Ship From dropdown and choose FBA.
Once you select FBA as the Provider, choose your desired Service type. In the future, you can configure service mappings and automation rules to populate an FBA service by default.
Once the provider and service are set, click Get Rate, then Send Order(s). Please note that if you send the fulfillment with incorrect information or created the fulfillment in error, you have a limited amount of time to cancel the fulfillment.
ShipStation then sends the order to Amazon FBA to fulfill, and moves it into Pending Fulfillment status.
To view the fulfillment status, head over to the Shipments page, then select the Fulfillments link.
ShipStation receives incremental updates from Amazon regarding the order status. However, you can also select one or many orders and click Update Status(es) for the most up to date status. The statuses that are returned will not exactly match what is listed in FBA. Here is a breakdown:
|Status in FBA||Message||Status in ShipStation|
Out of stock or invalid shipping address; order cannot be completed
Order has been received
Order is being packed for shipment
Order has been shipped
Once the fulfillment updates as Shipped, ShipStation transmits the shipping information back to the original selling channel. If Error is returned from FBA, simply hover over the blue 'Error' in the Status column to read what was returned to ShipStation by Amazon. For more info on FBA's statuses, here is a link to an Amazon help article.
