By default, ShipStation creates labels in a 4"×6" format (approximately 101mm x 152mm), ideal for thermal label printers. For standard size inkjet/laser printers, ShipStation adjusts the label orientation 90 degrees to print horizontally on the standard size paper.
Set the label format in ShipStation to match the type of printer you use.
The following short video demonstrates how to change your label format in ShipStation (step-by-step instructions follow below):
Change your label format
Head to your Account Settings (the wrench icon in the upper right).
Next, select Printing and then Printing Setup from the sidebar on the left.
Here, you'll see the different documents that ShipStation can print.
Click Document Options for Labels to see the formats and preferences available.
Change the format to the appropriate format for your printer and preferences.
- Thermal label (A6) printers = 4" x 6" format.
- Standard (A4) printers = 8.5" x 11" format.
Save your changes and you're ready to go!
*Remember: all labels printed using these settings result in 4"x6" labels (approx. 101mm x 152mm and near A6 size paper). The difference is whether they print to 4"x6" equivalent thermal labels, or to an 8.5"x11" equivalent (A4) from a laser or inkjet printer.
