Note: Packing Slips in ShipStation are equivalent to Royal Mail’s Despatch Notes. Another common term for this document is Delivery Notes.
To create a packing slip specifically for gift items, you'll need to recognize a bit of HTML. This article will go over removing the prices on a default packing slip template as well as adding the gift message to a packing slip template.
Head to your Account Settings (the wrench icon in the upper right).
Next, select Templates and then Packing Slips from the sidebar on the left.
Either copy or edit an existing template, and click on the Order Items Header grey bar.
Here, you need to delete the code highlighted above. The code in this area should then look like this:
<th align="left" style="width:0.75in" class="sku">
<th align="center" style="width:0.35in">
Now, we need to delete the code for the prices on each item in the order. Click on the Order Items bar, and delete the highlighted code like you see in the picture below.
If you haven't previously customized the slip, the code in this area should then look like this:
<td>[Item Title]<br>[Item Options]</td>
Lastly, we'll need to take out the "Subtotal," and other prices in the rest of the packing slip, so click on Order Footer bar. Here, we're taking out the majority of the code, so don't be alarmed if it doesn't look like much is left.
Delete the code that you see in the above picture. If you haven't previously customized the slip, the code in this area should then look like this:
<table cellspacing=0 cellpadding="2" border="0" style="width:100%" class="footer">
<td rowspan="4" class="notes" >
[Notes to Buyer]
<p align="center" style="font-size:11px">[Packing Slip Message]</p>
Make sure to click Save, and your packing slip will be able to be used.
Something else to consider is adding the Gift Message. This is a field that can be put in the footer as well, beneath the Packing Slip Message.
On the packing slip template, this field replacement is located under the Order/Shipment section dropdown.
Certain selling channels, like Shopify and Magento, send over if an order is a gift. You can use this value as an automation rules to apply your gift packing slip to an order. Otherwise, you will need to select the gift packing slip manually or via a bulk update.
This is an is how the rule would look:
(note, you will need to create and save your own Gift Packing Slip template.)
