Frequently Asked Questions
What label sizes does ShipStation support?
ShipStation prints 4"x6" shipping labels (or 100mm x 150mm for metric users). When selecting the 8.5"x11" option, this prints either two 4"x6" per page, or one 4"x6" label and a 4"x6" packing slip per page. For more information, see our label format help article.
Currently, ShipStation does not print standard-sized stamps or 2"x3" address labels.
Can I un-void a label?
No. Once a label is voided, it cannot be unvoided. However, you can simply create a new label for that order! Keep in mind, some selling channels will not accept a 2nd tracking number from ShipStation. If that is the case, you may want to manually update the new tracking number on your selling channel for that order.
What happens to unused return labels?
In ShipStation, the return labels you generate count against your subscriptions monthly shipment count, whether they get used or not. Depending on your carrier, you may be charged when you create the label, or you may only be charged if the label is used. See this return label help article for more details.
Do labels expire if I don't use them right away?
In most cases, no. However, different carriers can have different policies when it comes to label expiration. Check with your carrier for details.
What are document options?
Document options are account-wide settings that determine how various documents will print from your ShipStation account. This includes label sizes, label DPI, the sequence documents print when printing multiple orders at once, and what information should be included or excluded from various documents.
Go to Settings > Printing > Printing Setup to view the options available for each document type.
How can I add a product name or SKU on a shipping label?
To add information like product names or SKUs to a shipping label, use Label Messages. Label Messages can be configured in the Labels Document Options screen. See our label messages article for details.
Can I print "item options" on packing slips or pick lists?
For Pick Lists, no.
For Packing Slips, possibly. This will depend on if your selling channel sends that information and our integration with the selling channel supports it. If you see item options listed under the item name in your order details, then you can print this information on your packing slips by adding the [Item Options] field replacement to your packing slip. Does ShipStation submit customs forms electronically?
For some carriers, yes. For more details, see the help article Where can I find my customs forms?
How can I get a receipt for one of my shipments?
If you need a receipt for a specific label you purchased, locate the shipment in ShipStation's Shipments tab and copy the tracking number. Then, contact ShipStation support, request a Transaction Details Report, and provide the tracking number for each shipment you need the receipt for. Support will attach each Transaction Details Report to their response.
Where can I get my monthly ShipStation invoice?
Go to Settings > Account > Subscription and click the link to view your past invoices. The click Download Invoice for each invoice you'd like to download. Your invoice includes your ShipStation subscription fee, Shipsurance purchases, and Amazon premium fees (if you use the Amazon Shipping Carrier).
