ShipStation verifies and corrects domestic addresses, as well as international addresses for select countries. For domestic US orders, ShipStation uses the Stamps.com address validation database, and all other address validation uses the Melissa Database. The following countries can be verified and corrected using our Address Verification feature:
- Great Britain
- United States
While the address verification will always run on orders being shipped to the above countries, you can opt out and in of having any invalid address corrected.
Enable or disable Automatic Address Correction
Head to your Account Settings (the wrench icon in the upper right).
Next, select Selling Channels and then Store Setup from the sidebar on the left.
On each store(s) that you wish to disable this setting for, click Edit.
To disable/enable the feature, locate these checkbox on the screen that appears.
Click Save Changes and you'll be done!
Now, when an address comes in and is verified and/or corrected, the globe icon beside the recipient name will turn green.
- When using ShipStation's address verification feature to standardize recipient addresses, particularly international addresses, there is the chance that the closest matching address in either the Stamps.com (US addresses) or Melissa databases (All other countries) will not match the intended delivery address.
- Regardless of if addresses are standardized or not, the verified/warning icons will still display.
