How do I setup my DYMO LabelWriter 4XL thermal printer on Windows?

These instructions apply to our Windows customers who need help with the installation and setup of their DYMO LabelWriter 4XL Thermal Printer in order to print from ShipStation. (Please follow the instructions on this article if you need to set up your DYMO LabelWriter 4XL on a Mac.)

This driver from the DYMO US site is the one we've found to work best. If you installed the built-in driver, please uninstall it, and download the latest Windows driver from the DYMO website. Make sure that the printer is not connected to the computer while you install the driver.

Once the driver has been successfully downloaded, launch the driver .exe file from your downloads folder. Then follow the instructions for the installation. Plug the DYMO USB cable into the computer once completed.

The following screen cap shows the settings that need to be configured to print the 4"x6" labels properly. (The individual steps will follow)

Now that the driver has been successfully installed go to your Devices and Printers folder from the Control Panel. This article will help you locate your Control Panel.

On the Devices and Printers page, right-click the DYMO LabelWriter 4XL icon and click Printing Preferences.

Click Advanced on the Printing Preferences popup after making sure that it is set to Portrait orientation.

Set the Paper Size to 1744907 4 in x 6 in and set the Print Quality to Barcodes and Graphics. Also match the other settings in the screenshot below. Then click OK

On the Printing Preferences page, click Apply and OK and you'll be ready to print!
