Stamps.com cubic pricing is available by default for all ShipStation users creating labels in ShipStation with their Stamps.com account.
Cubic rates are ideal for small, heavy packages since the pricing is based on the volume of the package instead of the weight. Any package that measures 0.50 cubic feet or less and is 20 pounds or less is eligible.
Dimensional weight is calculated as (length × width × height) / (dimensional factor). The dimensional factor for USPS DIM weight is currently 194. Starting June 23, 2019, the dimensional factor will change to 166.
Do the following to receive cubic rates in ShipStation:
- Choose a domestic Priority service for your shipment.
- Choose a package type of package*.
- Enter the package's weight & dimensions.
ShipStation will automatically use the Cubic rate whenever it's cheaper than the Priority rate!
*Stamps.com and Endicia require the package type of Package to return Cubic rates. Express1 requires the package type of Cubic to return Cubic rates. Using the Cubic package type for Stamps.com or Endicia will result in an error when you attempt to get a rate.
Keep in mind, cubic rates are subject to change periodically. Please reach out to your provider if you'd like a full breakdown of the exact rates per package volume.
