ShipStation can generate an API Key and Secret to be used with other developer apps so they have read and write access to your ShipStation account. ShipStation's API is available for any plan and allows for read-access to almost all data in your account, and write-access to create specific objects like Orders and Shipments.

Generate API Keys
Head to your Account Settings (the wrench icon in the upper right).
Next, select Account and then API Settings from the sidebar on the left.

Then, simply click the Generate New API Keys button:
Your Key and Secret will appear just above the button. You can then copy them into any app that needs them.
Your ShipStation account can issue only a single set of API keys at a time. If you generate new keys at any point, be sure to apply them to any connection that uses them, or the connection with ShipStation will no longer function.

Certain apps may also require you specify a storeID so it knows which store to push and pull data from.
The storeID can be found at the end of the URL in your address bar while in the store's settings window (in most cases, this will be a 5 or 6 digit number):
Keep in mind, you are not required to use the API to sync a marketplace's orders. Review our Custom Store Development Guide to see if that might be a better fit for your needs. It has all the information a skilled XML developer will require to create a complete connection between your store and ShipStation.
