How do I update my inventory's stock levels (multiple SKUs)?

You'll need to upload a CSV file to update your stock levels for multiple SKUs in your inventory. Your included stock counts will replace existing stock levels (not incrementally add to them).

Additionally, the CSV needs to be in the same format used when you initially set your inventory levels and must be limited to one Inventory Warehouse.

First, you'll want export the stock levels within an Inventory Warehouse.

Click on the Products tab.

Next, select Inventory from the sidebar on the left.

Now that you're on the Inventory grid, notice there are Import and Export options. For now, click Export.

Since you’re trying to update your stock levels, select the option to “Only export products with Inventory from this warehouse” and choose the warehouse whose records you need.

Click Export Now to begin the file export. Then when it's complete, click the link in the top right to download the file.


Please do not edit, add, remove, or move any of the CSV's column headers!

Update the stock levels in the file knowing that these numbers will replace the numbers in the system. You may add new rows that specify Warehouse Locations that don't exist yet, and ShipStation will create them.

Here are some additional details for the Inventory Import CSV:

  • Required fields within the CSV are SKU, and Stock.
  • The CSV's "Loc1" column maps to the "Area" portion of the Warehouse Layout
  • The CSV's "Loc2" column maps to the "Unit" portion of the Warehouse Layout 
  • The CSV's "Loc3" column maps to the "Shelf" portion of the Warehouse Layout 
  • The CSV's "Loc4" column maps to the "Bin" portion of the Warehouse Layout
  • If you don't specify at least one 'Loc' value during the import, the stock will be placed in an "Unspecified" location.

When you're done editing the spreadsheet file, save it as a CSV and click Import on the Inventory Grid's action bar.

You'll see a new window, but before you Select a File and Start Import, make sure your file only contains inventory for the selected Inventory Warehouse, or else your records will be duplicated into that Inventory Warehouse. Each Inventory Warehouse’s stock levels will need to be imported using separate CSV files.

Once your import is complete, your stock levels will be updated for that Inventory Warehouse! Simply repeat this process for each Inventory Warehouse.
