How to add a Jane store to ShipStation, what features are available, and other need-to-know details.

IMPORTANT: Jane.com closed their website and app on Nov. 17, 2023. Any account previously connected to ShipStation will retain their Jane.com order history and data.

 

Jane.com (formerly VeryJane.com) is a multi-channel ecommerce boutique for women. ShipStation sends tracking information upon label creation, updates shipping statuses back to your Jane account, and imports your customer's product information right back to you.

Complete a Seller Application for an account on Jane's website if you haven't already set one up!

Jane Requirements

Connection Requirements:

  • An active seller account with Jane.

  • Username and Password

Order Import Requirements:

  • Include a Ship To address.

Seller Requirement Parameters:

  • US bank account

  • Employer Identification Number (EIN) or Social Security Number (SSN)

  • US Address for returns

  • Shipping dispatch within 48 hours of order placement

  • Shipping included price (offering free shipping to the consumer)

The IRS uses an Employer Identification Number (EIN), also known as a Federal Tax Identification Number, to identify a business entity. Generally, businesses need an EIN. You can apply online for this free service at the IRS Employer ID Numbers page, and you should check with your state government to see if you also need a state number or charter.

Connect a Jane store to ShipStation

To connect your Jane store to ShipStation:

  1. Select the Jane tile.

  2. Enter your Jane Username or Email and Password.

After you've completed the connection steps, your store will be connected to ShipStation. You'll be taken to the store's Settings page to adjust the store-specific settings like branding, notification preferences, and product handling.

Available Features for Jane Integration

The ShipStation integration with Jane supports the following standard features:

If a store allows custom statuses, this means you define that statuses your orders use in your selling channel. In most cases, if you have custom statuses you'll need to define which ShipStation statuses each custom order status corresponds to.

ShipStation will import the customer's email address with the order data and can send shipment confirmation and delivery emails to that email address (configured in your Store settings).

ShipStation will import the customer phone number with the order data.

ShipStation will import the shipping method chosen by the customer during their store checkout.

ShipStation will import the payment method used to pay for the order.

ShipStation will import discount and coupon information for the order.

ShipStation can determine if an order is a gift from the order data sent by the store.

ShipStation will import internal notes or order activity from the store into the ShipStation Internal Notes field.

ShipStation will import notes provided by the customer when they made their purchase.

ShipStation will import the total order weight from the store.

ShipStation will import the weight for each line item in the order.

ShipStation will import an image URL for each line item in the order. These images will appear as thumbnails in your Order Details and can be included in email notifications and packing slips.

ShipStation will import item options (such as color or size) for each line item in the order. This data will appear in your Order Details and can be included in customer emails and packing slips.

ShipStation will import a product stock location for each line item in the order.

The shipment update ShipStation sends to the selling channel will include any Notes to Buyer set on the order in ShipStation.

Additional Details about the Jane Integration

  • ShipStation cannot send email notifications for Jane orders. All customer notifications will be handled by Jane.

  • ShipStation uses the Sub Order Number from Jane, which is specific to the portion of the customer's total order that you need to ship. This may not match the Order Number that your customer receives when they checkout from Jane.

Error: IntegrationError: Jane encountered an error and responded with StatusCode BadRequest. Content: {"message":"Missing tracking number."}

What it means: Jane requires all shipments to have a tracking number. Shipping orders via non-tracked services like First Class Mail Letters will cause this error.

What to do: Ship Jane orders with a service that includes tracking numbers for the shipment.
