Welcome to part 2 of our Tricks and Treats for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Beyond series. If you have missed part 1, you can check it out here: Tricks and Treats for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Beyond PART 1
If you are currently not using or aware of how automation works in ShipStation and want to know how you can leverage this to increase your efficiency, now is the time to look into it. If you are already aware of the automation available and use it on a day to day basis, now is the time to make sure you have everything streamlined for the Holidays.
We recommend first reviewing the following documents:
Update your Service Mappings to include special shipping methods
With the holiday season approaching you want to make sure new seasonal shipping options you are providing for your customers are mapped to a method in ShipStation. This way when the orders import they will already have the correct shipping options attached.
If you need to review this check out our Service Mapping Article.
Custom Package types with dimensions
Make sure to add weight and dimensions where possible to avoid adjustment charges. Use the Settings>shipping> Packages to add in your package types ahead of time with their dimensions added in. This will help your carrier correctly estimate the rate you will be paying and can help your shippers identify the correct special packaging they need to be using for each shipment.
You check this out in full detail here: Custom Package Types
Now is a good time to fine-tune your automation rules and delete or deactivate rules that you are not going to be using during this time. Your goal here should be to make sure to be as effective and condensed as possible. Remember, the less rules you have to run the faster imports will run for you. Try combining rules with the same criteria where applicable. I have included some resources to help you with Automation Rules below.
Using filters will help you segment and Isolate a group of any orders that you can use as a criteria for automation rules or use to assign workflows to your employees.
If you are wanting to assign orders without relying on automation rules you can consider using saved views for each user.
Apply Bulk actions
Don’t forget that if you need to add something to a group of orders after they import, you do not always need to rely on adding and reprocessing automation rules. Sometimes automation rules are not an option and when that happens you can always use “apply bulk actions” from the order grid.
To see all options you have available with Apply Bulk actions under the Orders>Awaiting Shipment tab, click on the other actions drop-down and select apply bulk options. The apply bulk actions available are pretty similar to what we offer for automation rules, the best way to suss out what is available through bulk actions is going to be getting hands-on.
Free tool resources for marketing emails and materials
Marketing banners on your site are important, especially with the Holiday season approaching. Below I have listed a small group of sites that provide stock photos that are free for commercial use.
