Happy Friday everyone, it is time for our third and final installment of our Black Friday Tricks and Treats series. Let’s jump into it, shall we?
It is never too early to start planning and making sure that you have everything ready. Needing to add need workstations? Set them up as soon as you can and get your employees working with them so you can get the kinks out before the week of black Friday. Make sure ShipStation Connect is working ahead of time and all scales work.
Helpful preparation tips
-Clear cache and cookies on every machine
-If you use our hotkeys, think about posting a print out at each workstation with all the hotkeys listed. You can generate this from the Insights>Report Page.
-If you have materials that need to be specifically used consider having a special location where these supplies are easily accessible.
-All printers and scales are tested and working with Connect.
-Stock up on EVERYTHING (even water and snacks for morale)
After you have everything set up, I would recommend not making any big changes the week before Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Especially when it comes to technology.
But in addition to having things set up and prepped for the big week, you should always have an emergency plan and be ready for the unexpected. You can make all the plans you want but if you do not have contingency plans for the worst-case scenario things can fall apart pretty fast.
Here are some links to help center articles that cover some worst-case scenarios.
In Tricks and Treats for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Beyond PART 2 we posted some great resources to create some stunning graphics, put them to use by creating some marketing materials to add to your email confirmations to customers. You can even start now, remember the more you advertise and the earlier you get to your customers the better off you are.
With an estimated 70% open rate and with recipients spending an average of 14 seconds- other emails are read for 8 seconds on average- reading them, your order confirmation emails are a great way to advertise to people who you know will be interested.
In addition to shipping confirmation emails, you want to drive home your marketing by also including marketing materials in your box. Packing slips and standalone flyers work perfectly for this. Check out this ShipStation blog for more info on using in box marketing materials.
Hopefully, these tips help you to be as prepared as possible for this exciting season. If you have any other suggestions or tips let us know in the comments below.
