ParcelGuard is a shipment insurance option available to all US-based ShipStation accounts. ParcelGuard offers an easy, affordable way to protect your shipments from loss or damage and can save you up to 67% over traditional carrier insurance.
To enable ParcelGuard, all you need to do is activate ShipStation Carriers. Once you have done so, you can start adding ParcelGuard coverage to your shipments immediately!
To add coverage to a shipment, choose ParcelGuard from the Insurance drop-down menu when configuring your shipment. Your ShipStation Balance will be used for ParcelGuard costs.
Available in the New ShipStation Layout Only
ParcelGuard is not available in ShipStation Legacy.
ParcelGuard covers the entire value of a domestic or international shipment up to $10,000.
Instead of relying on a third-party provider for coverage beyond the carrier's default coverage, you can ship with peace of mind knowing that your shipment is protected in its entirety by ParcelGuard against loss or damage during transit.
The cost of coverage is calculated based on the amount entered in the Insure Amt. field when you configure your shipment in ShipStation.
Per ParcelGuard’s terms and conditions, coverage rates depend on the carrier and service you choose for your shipment and whether the shipment is domestic or international.
Cost per $100 of Coverage
Click Cost Review in the Configure Shipment section of the Order Details screen to view the cost of ParcelGuard coverage.
All ParcelGuard fees are deducted from your ShipStation Balance, which you can add funds to at any time. Funds for the ShipStation Balance are charged to the payment method used for ShipStation Carriers.
Set Your Balance to Auto-Fund!
You can also automatically add funds to your ShipStation Balance (used for both postage and insurance costs).
See our guide to adding funds to your ShipStation Balance for more details.
If you need to file a claim with ParcelGuard for a lost or damaged shipment, you can do so directly in ShipStation. The link to file a claim is available from the Shipments grid or Shipment details. Once you click the link, follow the onscreen instructions.
Insurance Column Shipments grid:
Locate the desired shipment in the Shipments grid, then scroll horizontally to the Insurance column.
Click the ParcelGuard link and follow the onscreen instructions to submit your claim.
If you do not see the Insurance column, click the Columns button and enable the Insurance column.
If the Insurance field is blank, that means insurance was not added when the label was created for that shipment.
Click on a Shipment Record number to open the Shipment Details. The File a Claim link is next to the Insurance field.
Keep All Packaging and Damaged Goods
When you are filing a claim with ParcelGuard, keep all packaging and the damaged goods as they were received, as photographs may be required for claims processing. Do not dispose of any shipment materials or goods before the claim is complete.
