OnTrac is a regional shipping carrier for US-based merchants that offers delivery options to the western US, every ZIP code in California, and the metro areas of AZ, NV, OR, WA, UT, CO, and ID. ShipStation's integration with OnTrac lets you create domestic shipping labels to any destination in OnTrac's service area.

If you don't have an account yet, you can request a new OnTrac account on their website.

2026 Migration to New OnTrac (V3) Integration via ShipStation

OnTrac is migrating all legacy OnTrac customers currently using ShipStation to the new Unified OnTrac integration (V3). ShipStation has adopted this integration over the past several months and is consolidating the number of OnTrac integrations it supports, so all customers will transition to the updated system.

What this means for you:

  • New account structure: Legacy accounts use a numeric Account Number; V3 uses Customer Branches (unique alphanumeric IDs) aligned to your current origin and injection locations.

  • Tracking number changes: Current format starts with "D"; new format starts with "1LS." Coordination with your third-party tracking providers may be required.

  • Invoice format updates: Invoices will move to a new format.

  • ShipStation setup required: You must add a new OnTrac carrier integration in ShipStation.

Migrating in ShipStation:

  • Contact OnTrac to request your new credentials. The new OnTrac API requires a different set of parameters than OnTrac Legacy or LaserShip.

  • Once you have your new credentials, connect your OnTrac account via the Carriers page just like connecting any other carrier.

Connect an OnTrac account to ShipStation

To connect your OnTrac account to ShipStation:

🇺🇸 🇨🇦 Your Carriers Add-On

For US- and Canada-based ShipStation accounts, certain plans will require you to enable the Your Carriers add-on before you can connect your carrier accounts. If you have not yet enabled it, you'll be prompted to do so before you can connect your accounts.

  1. Contact OnTrac to request a password for use with ShipStation.

  2. Go to Account Settings.

  3. Select Shipping, then choose Carriers from the sidebar.

  4. Select the Your Carrier Accounts tab.

  5. Select Add Carrier .

  6. Select the OnTrac V3 tile and click Connect.

  7. Enter the 10 required fields listed below, along with an Account Nickname to identify this carrier account in ShipStation.

  8. Click Connect.

ShipStation will display estimated shipping rates for the carrier based on the connected account information and shipment details.

Shipment insurance, provided by the shipment's selected carrier, can be added to the shipment in ShipStation. This insurance would be in addition to any default coverage already provided by that carrier.

Shipping labels created for this carrier will include a tracking number that can be used to view the shipment status on the carrier's tracking website. Tracking may not be available for all shipping services.

ShipStation can close the day's shipments for the carrier and submit the manifest electronically. The End of Day process may be mandatory or optional, based on the carrier and your account with them. A printable file may or may not be available when submitted electronically - see End of Day (PDF).

OnTrac Integration Notes

  • OnTrac supports Label Messages 1 and 2 only.

  • ShipStation's OnTrac integration does not currently support third-party or recipient billing options.

Invalid credentials error when attempting to connect OnTrac to ShipStation.

After you create an account with OnTrac, they will send you an email that contains your Account Number, WebOnTrac Login, and Password.

What to do: You must create a different password specific to ShipStation, or you will receive an invalid credentials error message when attempting to connect your OnTrac account.
