Squarespace is a platform that publishes websites and that features completely integrated ecommerce stores. Squarespace’s all-in-one service includes templates, content management, WebHost capabilities, domains, social integrations, and 24/7 live support, so your online store is always open for business.

Manage and synchronize orders, update shipment statuses, track shipments, let customers choose shipping services, and gain reporting insights through the ShipStation integration with Squarespace.

Squarespace Requirements

Connection Requirements:

  • An active account with Squarespace on one of their Commerce plans (Basic or Advanced).

Order Import Requirements:

  • Include a Ship To address.

  • Contain at least one physical product.

Connect a Squarespace store to ShipStation from ShipStation

To connect your Squarespace store to ShipStation via the ShipStation Store Setup page:

  1. Select Squarespace.

  2. Click Connect.

  3. If prompted, log in to Squarespace. If you were already logged in to Squarespace, proceed to the next step.

  4. Click Allow.

After you've completed the connection steps, the store's Settings page will open. You can adjust your store-specific settings like branding and customer notifications, if you wish. Or click Save to close.

Multiple Squarespace Stores

If you manage multiple Squarespace stores, repeat the steps above to connect additional stores to ShipStation. If you use different login credentials for each Squarespace store, be sure to log out between connections.

This connection method will always create a new Squarespace store connection in ShipStation, even if there is an existing Squarespace store connection in your ShipStation account..

To reconfigure an existing store connection - to update authentication credentials for example - click the Connection link in ShipStation Settings > Selling Channels > Store Setup page to initiate the process.

  1. Log in to your Squarespace account.

  2. Go to Settings > Extensions.

  6. If you don't already have a ShipStation account, you can register for a free trial through this page. If you already have an account, click Login and sign into your ShipStation account.

The shipment update ShipStation sends to the selling channel will include any Notes to Buyer set on the order in ShipStation.

If a store allows custom statuses, this means you define that statuses your orders use in your selling channel. In most cases, if you have custom statuses you'll need to define which ShipStation statuses each custom order status corresponds to.

ShipStation will import the customer's email address with the order data and can send shipment confirmation and delivery emails to that email address (configured in your Store settings).

ShipStation will import the customer phone number with the order data.

ShipStation will import the shipping method chosen by the customer during their store checkout.

ShipStation will import the payment method used to pay for the order.

ShipStation will import discount and coupon information for the order.

ShipStation can determine if an order is a gift from the order data sent by the store.

ShipStation will import internal notes or order activity from the store into the ShipStation Internal Notes field.

ShipStation will import notes provided by the customer when they made their purchase.

ShipStation will import the total order weight from the store.

ShipStation will import the weight for each line item in the order.

ShipStation will import an image URL for each line item in the order. These images will appear as thumbnails in your Order Details and can be included in email notifications and packing slips.

ShipStation will import item options (such as color or size) for each line item in the order. This data will appear in your Order Details and can be included in customer emails and packing slips.

ShipStation will import a product stock location for each line item in the order.

Squarespace Integration Notes

  • Automatic store updates are always enabled for Squarespace store connections in ShipStation.

    This setting cannot be disabled for Squarespace store connections, as regular imports are required to ensure the ShipStation authentication to your Squarespace store remains active.

  • ShipStation will import Product Variants as Item Options, and will import Product Forms as Notes from Buyer.

    Warning

    For Legacy store connections, ShipStation will import Product Variants as Item Options, but will not import Product Forms.

  • Only Physical products will import into ShipStation. Digital or Service products will not import into ShipStation.

  • ShipStation will only import Squarespace orders that include a zip code or postal code with the order.

How to troubleshoot or resolve

Error when reconfiguring store connection: "Cannot save undefined Squarespace auth tokens" or "An error occurred attempting to update orders: Squarespace refresh token not found: please connect your Squarespace store"

What to do:

  1. Clear your browser cache or open an incognito/private window.

  2. Log in to Squarespace and go to Settings > Extensions > ShipStation, then click Disconnect ShipStation.

  3. Log in to ShipStation and go to Settings > Selling Channels, then click Connection next to your Squarespace store.

  4. Click Connect. You’ll be redirected to Squarespace. Choose the store you want to connect and allow the plugin to connect.
