The ShipStation integration with Walmart allows for the following additional features:
|
Feature |
Description |
|---|---|
|
Supports Inventory Sync |
ShipStation's Inventory Sync feature eliminates the need for manual inventory updates, ensuring your inventory levels are always accurate and up-to-date. Once you have activated Inventory Sync in the Add-On section of your account settings, you can easily manage your inventory across multiple platforms, saving time and reducing the risk of errors. Inventory Sync is included in the High Volume plan, or as an add-on to all other plans. See the Inventory Sync article to learn more. |

Deliver By Date |
Set a delivery date for the recipient to see during checkout. This date will automatically import into ShipStation’s Deliver By Date field. |
|
Order Acknowledgement |
If an order is not already acknowledged, ShipStation will attempt to acknowledge the order when it is imported. |
Fast-shipping listings get rewarded with better placement in search results, and they have a higher chance of winning the BuyBox. But offering fast, nationwide shipping isn’t always simple. Overpromise on delivery, and you risk late deliveries and unhappy customers with a drop in your performance metrics. Underpromise, and you could lose sales to competitors.
Walmart's Simplified Shipping Settings (SSS) take the guesswork out of the equation. The feature cross-references real-time carrier data with your fulfillment center locations to automatically calculate the most accurate and competitive delivery promise for each customer. Sellers who moved from manual templates to SSS reduced promise times by over 1 day and boosted sales on average by 10%.
This feature helps you:
-
Ship with confidence by creating precise, location-based delivery promises without the churn of managing transit times manually
-
Unlock expedited shipping automatically based on your carrier configuration without inflating your fulfillment cost. Customize region coverage to reach your customers.
-
Protect your performance metrics by shipping as recommended and on time to keep your On-Time Delivery score from being affected by carrier-related delays, which helps you get closer to earning your Pro Seller Badge
-
Save valuable time by moving away from the complex management of templates. Configure settings once and let automation handle the rest.
How It Works
For an item on Simplified Shipping Settings, the system will evaluate all the provided carrier service and fulfillment center combinations (with inventory) to determine the one that provides the most optimal promise to the customer location. When an order is flagged for Simplified Shipping Settings by Walmart's API, ShipStation will automatically display two read-only fields for you to reference.
-
Walmart's Location: This field shows the recommended Ship From location for the order.
-
Walmart's Service Recommendation: This field displays the specific carrier service (e.g., UPS Ground, FedEx 2Day Express) that Walmart recommends for the order.
When you ship the order on time using Walmart's recommendations of location and carrier service, it increases the likelihood of delivering the order on time. That helps you maintain a healthy seller score with Walmart by protecting you against carrier-related delays. In ShipStation, orders that use Simplified Shipping will also have a premium program tag to easily identify them.
Recommendations are not Requirements
The Walmart Location and Service Recommendations are helpful tools. They are not requirements. If you choose not to take the recommended service, you can still print a label for your shipment.
By following these recommendations, you can ensure you're using the method Walmart prefers. This method protects you if an item is lost and helps you maintain a healthy seller score with Walmart. In ShipStation, orders that use Simplified Shipping will also have a premium program tag to easily identify them.
ShipStation will automatically enable SSS for Walmart sellers. When an account has SSS activated on it, the Simplified Shipping tag will show in Shipment Details.
Check Your Opt-In Status on Walmart
There are two main ways to see if you have been opted in to Simplified Shipping Settings (SSS):
-
An email notification from Walmart, or
-
Checking your Seller Center account.
Walmart may opt you in directly after a pre-notification period, or you can choose to migrate your eligible items from Shipping Templates to SSS. Once you are opted in, the shipping profile section of your Seller Center will have a different appearance.
When you are on SSS, your Walmart Shipping Profile page will show your carrier settings and fulfillment centers. You'll see options to manage your carriers, regions, and item groups.
If you are not yet on SSS, your Walmart Shipping Profile page will prompt you to migrate your items to the new settings or to get started with the new feature. You will see a different layout with a prompt to Get started with SSS.

-
ShipStation will not create new orders if all the products in the order are already Shipped or Cancelled.
-
ShipStation is not able to send emails for Walmart orders. All customer notifications will be handled by Walmart.
-
Due to Walmart's order acknowledgment requirements, the Auto-Update feature is always enabled for Walmart stores and cannot be disabled.
-
Every individual item in a Walmart order has its own unique Line Item ID value which must be included when notifying Walmart of the shipment. If a customer orders multiples of the same item, the item will appear multiple times in ShipStation each with a quantity of 1.
