FirstMile Requirements

Connection Requirements:

  • US-based ShipStation account

  • An active account with FirstMile

  • Your FirstMile Mailer ID

  • Your FirstMile password

  • A FirstMile account nickname to use in ShipStation (optional)

Connect a FirstMile account to ShipStation

To connect your FirstMile account to ShipStation, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Add Carrier button.

  3. Enter your FirstMile Mailer ID, Password, Profile Name, and choose an Account Nickname to identify the carrier account in ShipStation.

  4. Click Connect.

Dangerous Goods

When you create FirstMile shipping labels, you can enable an option to let FirstMile know if the package contains dangerous goods.

This option is available under Other Shipping Options in the Order Details.

This carrier may have other requirements when shipping dangerous goods. Check with your account representative to understand what qualifies as dangerous goods and any requirements your carrier may have for these shipments.

Use Automation Rules to apply this setting automatically when an order imports.

The carrier can be used to create domestic shipping labels.

ShipStation will submit international customs declarations electronically to the carrier.

The carrier can be used to create domestic return labels.

ShipStation will display estimated shipping rates for the carrier based on the connected account information and shipment details.

Shipment insurance, provided by the shipment's selected carrier, can be added to the shipment in ShipStation. This insurance would be in addition to any default coverage already provided by that carrier.

Shipping labels created for this carrier will include a tracking number that can be used to view the shipment status on the carrier's tracking website. Tracking may not be available for all shipping services.

ShipStation can close the day's shipments for the carrier and submit the manifest electronically. The End of Day process may be mandatory or optional, based on the carrier and your account with them. A printable file may or may not be available when submitted electronically - see End of Day (PDF).

FirstMile Integration Notes

  • When you notify a customer or marketplace of a shipment, ShipStation will use the end carrier for the shipment in the notification. For example, if you shipped via FirstMile's FedEx Ground shipping service, ShipStation will use the carrier code for FedEx when it sends notifications.

  • Amazon order numbers and barcodes may present issues on the commercial invoice. There is a limitation on the barcode length, so if it is too long for the page (overflows) and then scan the tracking number twice.
