Connect a PostNord International Account to ShipStation

To connect your PostNord International account to ShipStation:

  1. Select Add Carrier .

  2. Select PostNord International and click Connect.

    PostNord International logo on the Connection tile.
  3. Enter your PostNord International API Key, Customer Number, and Application Version, then choose an Account Nickname for you to identify the carrier account in ShipStation.

    Optional: provide the specific pickup, consignor, and authentication credentials detailed in the Requirements section of this article.

  4. Click Connect.

Label Reference Fields

PostNord International lets you add custom label messages. Use label_message_1 to add custom label messages to the label reference fields.

Label Size Variance

Label Sizes: 4" x 6"

Label formats: PDF

By default, PostNord International returns 4" x 6" label.

Other label sizes can be enabled via the generate_standard_label_size in the carrier settings. (It is set to false as default).

If selected, then the label will be generated in the standard PostNord size that is longer than 4x6 and may vary depending on the service.

Service Points (PUDO)

PostNord International supports shipping to service points. Carrier supports delivery to PUDO points and Service Point finder methods.

Tracking

ShipStation API's integration with PostNord International supports receiving tracking updates.

Electronic Customs Submission

PostNord International supports electronic customs declarations through standard CN22 and CN23 data mappings.

  • Customs Forms Supported: The carrier API automatically returns and supports required customs forms.

  • UK/US to Nordics Routing: For shipments originating in the UK or US heading to the Nordic countries, users must ensure their Issuer Code is set to ZDL in the connection settings. This ensures customs data is accepted properly and CN22/CN23 forms print correctly.

  • DDP Support: The integration supports Delivered Duty Paid (DDP), allowing merchants to bill duties and taxes back to the payor of the shipping charges.

PostNord International Integration Notes

  • The ShipStation integration with PostNord International does not support third-party billing.

  • Shipment Insurance: PostNord International does not support adding carrier insurance to your shipments.

  • Confirmation Types: PostNord International does not require or support any confirmation types.

  • Manifest / End-of-Day: PostNord International doesn’t have or require an end- of-day process.

  • Paperless Labels: PostNord International does not currently support paperless labels.

  • Delivery Confirmation: PostNord International does not support Shipping Delivery Confirmation.

  • Void Labels: PostNord International does not support voiding labels with ShipStation API. There is an internal voiding method implemented.

What it means: Authentication failed: api_key is missing or invalid.

What to do: Verify the carrier connection credentials. Generate or replace the API key in the PostNord Developer Portal, then retry the request.
