Configure Product Synchronization (Shopify)

Product Synchronization imports product information from your connected Shopify store in ShipStation. You can enable automatic Product Synchronization to check for new and updated products every 24 hours, or run Product Synchronization manually at any time

How Product Synchronization Works

When Product Synchronization runs, ShipStation matches Shopify products to existing product records using the product SKU.

  • Products with matching SKUs update the existing product record.

  • Products with new SKUs create a new record.

  • Product Synchronization adds new products and updates existing product records. Products removed from Shopify remain in your ShipStation Product Catalog.

Requirements

Before using Product Synchronization, ensure the following:

  • Products in Shopify must have a SKU assigned.

  • Existing products must use the same SKU in both Shopify and ShipStation.

    • If you change a product's SKU in Shopify after it has already been synchronized, ShipStation imports it as a new product instead of updating the existing product record. This can create duplicate product records in ShipStation.

Product Fields Synchronized from Shopify

Product Synchronization imports and updates the following product information.

Product Synchronization updates only the fields listed above. Manage other product information, such as pricing, tags, and categories, directly in ShipStation. Inventory quantities can be synchronized separately using Inventory Sync.

Enable Automatic Product Synchronization

When automatic Product Synchronization is enabled, ShipStation checks your Shopify store every 24 hours for new and updated products.

To set up automatic product import:

  1. Click the Actions menu Actions menu. Three-dot ellipsis next to the store you want to update, then choose Edit Store Details.

    SET_SC_SSU_Actions-EditStoreDetails_ShopifyMRK.png
  2. Select the Products tab.

Store Setup page with the row of tabs, with the Product tab selected
  3. Check the box next to Synchronize products from connected stores.

    SET__STORE__Tabs__Product_ProductSyncronizationBOX_MRK.png
  4. Select Save Changes.

Run Product Synchronization Manually

If you don't want to wait for the next scheduled synchronization, you can run Product Synchronization at any time.

To run manually:

  3. Select Sync Now.

    SET__STORE__Tabs__Product_SyncNow_BTNMRK__.png

Limitations

  • Product Synchronization adds new products and updates existing product records. It does not remove products that have been deleted from Shopify.

  • Changes made only to the Country/Region of Origin field may not synchronize unless another supported product field is also updated.
