Lightspeed Retail (X Series) offers a comprehensive ecommerce solution that integrates your online store with sophisticated, live inventory tracking, efficiency-boosting automation, and seamless payment handling. By removing the complications of fragmented systems, Lightspeed Retail empowers online retailers to streamline their workflows and grow with ease.

Lightspeed Retail Requirement's

Connection Requirements

  • An active account with Lightspeed Retail

  • Your Lightspeed Retail store domain (e.g., the 'mystore' part of mystore.retail.lightspeed.app)

Order Import Requirements:

  • Only imports sales with a Ship-To address

    • Orders without Ship-To addresses will be skipped and will not cause a store import error.

  • Only import sales with the type Delivery (may be a digital product)

    • Delivery means it has a Ship-To address if created in Lightspeed POS

  • Only orders that have been fully paid will be imported into Awaiting Shipment status. Orders with remaining payments will not be imported.

  • Non-delivery type orders (standard POS sales) are not imported into ShipStation as they do not require shipment.

Connect a Lightspeed Retail Store to ShipStation

To connect your Lightspeed Retail store to ShipStation:

  1. Select the Lightspeed Retail tile.

  2. Enter your Lightspeed Retail store domain (e.g., 'mystore' for mystore.retail.lightspeed.app).

    Important URL Requirement

    Domain should ONLY be the mystore part of mystore.retail.lightspeed.app.

    Domain should not contain leading protocol (e.g., "https://") and should not contain a leading "www".

    It should NOT be the full domain name (e.g. mystore.retail.lightspeed.app) with no leading protocol (e.g. "https://")

After you've completed the connection steps, the store's Settings page will open. You can adjust your store-specific settings like branding and customer notifications, if you wish. Or click Save to close.

Note on Dimensions

ShipStation only imports dimensions for orders with a single line item with a quantity of 1. Orders with multiple line items will not have dimensions populated.

Status Display Differences

The Lightspeed Retail UI may display order statuses differently from those returned in the API. ShipStation uses the State and Attribute fields from the API to determine order status.

The shipment update ShipStation sends to the selling channel will include any Notes to Buyer set on the order in ShipStation.

Custom Statuses

ShipStation will import the customer's email address with the order data and can send shipment confirmation and delivery emails to that email address (configured in your Store settings).

ShipStation will import the customer phone number with the order data.

ShipStation will import the shipping method chosen by the customer during their store checkout.

ShipStation will import the payment method used to pay for the order.

ShipStation will import discount and coupon information for the order.

ShipStation can determine if an order is a gift from the order data sent by the store.

ShipStation will import internal notes or order activity from the store into the ShipStation Internal Notes field.

ShipStation will import notes provided by the customer when they made their purchase.

ShipStation will import the total order weight from the store.

ShipStation will import the weight for each line item in the order.

ShipStation will import an image URL for each line item in the order. These images will appear as thumbnails in your Order Details and can be included in email notifications and packing slips.

ShipStation will import item options (such as color or size) for each line item in the order. This data will appear in your Order Details and can be included in customer emails and packing slips.

ShipStation will import a product stock location for each line item in the order.

Lightspeed Retail Integration Notes

Lightspeed Retail does not support the following:

  • Third-party billing.

  • Shipment Notifications.

  • Fulfillment statuses.

  • Requested service mappings.

  • Custom Statuses

  • Custom Field mapping

Lightspeed Retail offers varying support for the following:

  • Coupons and Discounts: Support for coupons and discounts depends entirely on the promotion type:

    • Certain promotions are imported as discount line items.

    • Promo codes may follow different behavioral rules.

  • Notes Imported: Lightspeed Retail has item notes, sales notes, and fulfillment notes. These are specific to the overall order.

    • Note From Buyer: No mapping

    • Note To Buyer: No mapping

    • Gift Note: No mapping

    • Internal Note:  Lightspeed Retail Internal Note must be mapped to ShipStation's internal note.

  • Tracking Information: Lightspeed Retail does not have a dedicated tracking number field. Upon shipment, ShipStation writes the tracking number and carrier information directly to the sale note in Lightspeed Retail.
