The Customers page is your address book: a place to store the people and businesses you ship to most often.
Getting Started
If you haven't added any customers yet, you'll see a prompt to add your first one right from the Customers page.
You can add customers in two ways on the Customers page:
-
Manually- Click Add Customer and enter their details directly.
-
CSV Import: Upload a CSV file of your existing contacts.
Follow these steps to import your customers' information via CSV.
-
Click the Import Customers button.
-
Drag and drop your CSV file into the designated upload area, or click Select a File to select the file from your computer.
-
Choose your preferred option for what to do should a customer already exist with the same username:
-
Update the existing record with the CSV: Replaces existing customer details with the updated information in your file.
-
Ignore the record in the CSV: Skips existing records and only imports customers with new usernames.
-
-
Click Start Import.
ShipStation will process the file and add your customers to the system.
The import will run in the background. When that import process completes, your new customer names will appear on the Customers page.
Follow these steps to manually add a customer.
-
Click the Add Customer button.
The New Customer pop-up will open.
-
Fill out the required contact details:
-
Name (Required): Enter the customer's full name.
-
Email (Required): Enter the primary email address.
-

-

-
-
(Optional) Assign Tags: Select any relevant tags from the Tags drop-down menu, or click Manage Tags to create new ones to help organize your customer base.
-
Click the Add Customer button to save the new record.
Click any customer in your list to open their details in a side panel, where you can:
-
Edit their contact and address information
-
Click View under the Actions column for that Customer.
-
Update their information and click Save.
-
-
Click Tags to add or manage tags to help organize your customer list.
-
View that customer's past shipment history.
If you have duplicate entries for the same customer, for example, from importing the same contact from two different stores, you can merge them into a single record.
Merging combines the shipment history from both records and removes the duplicate entry. No data is lost in the process
