Does ShipStation support dropshipping?

Using a fulfillment provider with ShipStation. Add Dropship Manager features. Export orders in a CSV. Provide a dropshipper with restricted access to your account.

ShipStation offers our Dropship Manager Add-On for merchants that dropship products. This feature lets you aggregate orders from your marketplace account and then delegate those orders to different vendor accounts. This workflow is ideal for sellers who operate marketplaces that connect with multiple vendors to fulfill orders and ship to the customer. It streamlines the previous workarounds offered to sellers who use fulfillment providers not yet integrated with ShipStation.

If you use one of ShipStation's fulfillment provider integrations like FBA or Shipwire to fulfill your orders, review the Send Orders to Fulfillment article instead.

If you have not yet added ShipStation's Dropship Manager feature and would still like to manage your shipments in ShipStation, you can use one of two methods to dropship orders:

  • Export order data to a CSV to upload or email to your fulfillment provider or dropshipper.

You can then use the Mark as Shipped feature when you receive the shipment service and tracking information back from your fulfillment provider.

  • Create a restricted login to your ShipStation account for your fulfillment provider or dropshipper.

A restricted login limits the user to view only the orders assigned to them. The user can then log in and process orders directly in ShipStation without viewing or affecting any orders not intended for that provider.

Export Orders as CSV

If you do not wish to provide your fulfillment provider access to your ShipStation account, or if their workflow requires a CSV with a list of the orders they fulfill for you (perhaps because they generate labels outside of ShipStation), use the following method:

  1. Create a tag for the products fulfilled by your provider.

  2. Use a filter to display only orders that contain this tag.

  3. Export the orders to a CSV file.

You can then email the exported file to your drop shipper, or upload it into their preferred portal.

Once your fulfillment provider has shipped these orders and sent you the tracking information, you can then mark the orders as shipped so they move to the Shipped status, and the tracking information uploads into ShipStation. ShipStation will then notify the selling channel these orders have shipped.

Create a Restricted User

You can provide your fulfillment provider access to your ShipStation account by creating a user login for them that is restricted to see only the orders you assign to them. Your fulfillment provider will log in to your account under their user and use your ShipStation account to create and print labels for the orders they fulfill.

You'll then want to assign orders to the new user you just created. Your fulfillment provider can now log in to your ShipStation account to view and ship the orders they need to process.

Assign Orders with Automation Rules

Use Automation Rules to automatically assign orders to your drop-shipper user by tagging the dropshipped products and using the tag as the rule criteria.
