Automation Rule Templates are pre-built, ready-to-use automation rules based on common merchant workflows. Every template is fully customizable, you can modify conditions, actions, and settings to match how your business operate. They help you quickly set up automation without building rules from scratch, while still allowing you to customize key details, like shipping methods, conditions, and quantities.
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for you to enable and modify Automation Templates and features within the Automation Overview page. It also includes a detailed breakdown of available Automation Tools, such as Auto-Routing and Service Mappings, to help you streamline your shipping workflow.
Why should I use automation templates instead of building rules manually?
Templates save time, reduce setup complexity, and follow proven workflows. They help ensure consistency while still giving you the flexibility to tailor automation to your needs.
Automation Rules are powerful, but they rely on a narrow set of system-driven triggers such as order creation, rather than real operational signals like inventory availability, fulfillment milestones, warehouse activity, or time-based workflows. Without these richer triggers and clearer execution boundaries, manually built automation remains useful but incomplete. Automation templates enable you to scale up your workflow into a more fluid, end-to-end operational system that you can trust.
Templates are designed to be user-friendly and require no technical setup. You simply choose a template, customize it if needed, and turn it on. Follow these steps to enable an Automation template from the Automation Overview page:
