Freight shipments are invoiced after delivery based on the carrier's final charges. Your final invoice may differ from the rate you received when booking the shipment due to adjustments such as reweigh, reclassifications, or accessorial fees.
Freight invoices reflect the carrier's final charges after delivery, including any adjustments or additional fees.
How your freight invoices are paid depends on how your freight provider account is connected to ShipStation.
-
WWEX accounts created through ShipStation: ShipStation automatically charges your payment method for the final invoiced amount, including any adjustments or additional fees.
-
Existing WWEX or Unishippers accounts connected to ShipStation: WWEX or Unishippers will manage invoicing and payment according to your existing billing arrangement. You can view invoices in ShipStation, but payments are processed by your freight provider.
Your final invoice may include adjustments for:
-
Reweigh: The carrier determines that the shipment's actual weight differs from the weight provided when booking.
-
Reclassification: The carrier assigns a different freight class to the shipment.
-
Accessorial fees: Additional charges for services used during pickup or delivery that weren't included in the original quote.
For WWEX accounts created through ShipStation, freight invoices are automatically charged to the payment method on file.
To add or update your payment method, see Add & Manage Payment Methods for Your ShipStation Balance.

Your original quote is based on the shipment information you provided when booking. The final invoice reflects the carrier’s charges after handling the shipment and can include adjustments for differences in weight, freight, or additional services used during pickup or delivery.
Enter accurate weight and dimensions for each handling unit when creating your shipment. You can also use Calculate Density when browsing rates to help determine the appropriate freight class.

After you submit a dispute, ShipStation generates a case number that you can use to reference your request. If additional information is needed, the ShipStation support team will contact you using the contact information associated with your account.
The billing team reviews your dispute with the carrier and emails you the outcome. If approved, the applicable adjustment will be reflected on your invoice.
