Connect Checkout Rates to Your Store

Provides the steps for connecting the checkout rate feature to the stores that currently support them.

Checkout Rates lets you choose the shipping options and rates displayed on your store's checkout page. See our Send Rates to Store Checkout Overview for information about this feature's requirements and how it works.

Currently, the stores that support Checkout Rates are Shopify, Magento, BigCommerce and Wix.

Before you can configure the rates for your store's checkout page, you must first connect the feature to your store in ShipStation. Then, you must enable the feature in your specific store.

Once connected, you can then Configure Checkout Rates in ShipStation. Keep in mind, however, that some stores may require an additional step in the selling channel platform to be fully activated. Review the section for your store below to ensure you have properly configured any store-specific settings.

Enable Checkout Rates for Shopify

Before enabling Checkout Rates for Shopify, make sure you meet the following Shopify requirements.

  • You must be on a Shopify Advanced plan or higher.

    Shopify Plan Requirement Updates

Shopify users on lower plans who switched to annual billing or paid for Third-Party Carrier-Calculated Shipping prior to January 1, 2023 will still have access to Checkout Rates.

  • After you register for Real-Time Calculated Shipping, there may be a delay from 30 minutes to 24 hours before the ShipStation rates appear in Shopify.

In your Shopify account:

  1. Go to the Shopify Help Center article Shipping and Delivery in the section to Edit Rates.

  2. Enable the option Automatically show new shipping services to customers when they become available.

  3. Select the checkbox next to Standard Delivery in the Manage Rates pop-up.

  4. Click Done, then click Save.

Shopify Plus accounts should follow the steps for Setting up Calculated Rates. These accounts don't require the steps above.

Then, you can continue setting up Checkout Rates within ShipStation.

If you receive an error when on an eligible Shopify plan...

If you are prompted to update your Shopify plan in ShipStation when setting up Checkout Rates, but you are already on an eligible plan, this means the Carrier Services endpoint has not been enabled for your Shopify account.

You must contact Shopify and request that the Carrier Services endpoint be enabled on your Shopify account. Once enabled, you can then continue setting up Checkout Rates for your Shopify store in ShipStation.

Enable Checkout Rates for BigCommerce

After you have set up your Checkout Rates within ShipStation:

  1. Log in to your BigCommerce account.

  2. Go to Shipping Setup to Edit your Shipping Method.

  3. Scroll down to the Real-Time Shipping Quotes and toggle on the ShipStation option.

  4. Enter a display name then click Submit in the pop-up window.

Enable Checkout Rates for Magento

To use Checkout Rates with Magento, you must have the most up-to-date plug-in (2.3+) for your Magento store and the store cannot use the multi-storefront feature. There is no further configuration to do in Magento.

Enable Checkout Rates for Wix

After you have set up your Checkout Rates in ShipStation:

  1. Log in to your Wix account to enable ShipStation to send the delivery options to your store checkout.

  2. Go to Settings > Store Shipping.

Wix dashboard Settings page. Store Shipping option highlighted.
